The conference is crafted to give you the knowledge, tools, and resources to do human rights work as a medical student and future health professional. You will have the opportunity to learn directly from pioneers in the fields of health and human rights, including attorneys from the PHR DC office and Dr. Robert Lawrence, co-founder of PHR, and receive hands-on legislative advocacy training. You will also connect with other students interested in health and human rights around the country, and will experience a lobby day led by PHR activists on the important topic of medical neutrality if you choose to join us on the 7th in DC.

Saturday, October 5 – Downtown Baltimore
5pm – 9pm
Meet and greet, dinner, and human rights happy hour 

Sunday, October 6 – Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Armstrong Medical Education Building, 1620 McElderry Street, Baltimore
8am – 6pm
Fundamentals of the Human Rights movement, with Dr. Bob Lawrence, co-founder of PHR
Medical neutrality
Workshop: Legislative lobbying, with PHR Senior Advisor Andrea Gittleman, JD
Human rights in medical education
Leadership training: Building a human rights community at your school

Monday, October 7 – Capitol Hill, Washington DC.
9am – 3pm
Hands-on legislative lobbying, led by members of PHR’s DC Legislative Office

A conference fee covers facilities, speakers, materials, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.
$25 per attendee if you're paying your own way and $40 if you are getting reimbursed through your school.
